My students attend a Title I school. Close to 90% are eligible for free and reduced lunch. Many of those students are English Language Learners. Our school has been here since the 1950's and still feels like a neighborhood school. Many of the students don't have a lot of access to new technologies and have insufficient community models to provide them with much needed social skills. Language barriers complicate these problems as well. The students in my school love coming to art class as it's a place where they feel comfortable and have the opportunity to express themselves.
