This elementary school had an art teacher for many years - but no music program! No quality instruments! The 6th graders hadn't had music since 1st grade! Now, I am in my second year as a teacher here. These keyboards are awesome. They have finger pads that play drum sounds. They have knobs that let you adjust and change sounds. They have keys so you can learn how to play piano. They connect to a computer as a MIDI device for all kinds of cool projects. They are small and durable, and will fit right on top of a student desk. With a headphone jack and a splitter, students can work in pairs. I'm planning to teach my students how to play piano - and they can practice reading rhythms with the drum pads. Not to mention they can compose their own music!
