About my class

My second graders are motivated learners and love carpet time. I have 28 students who attend a growing school in a rapidly growing city. My classroom has flexible seating to allow students to choose a learning spot to suit their needs. Throughout the day, they are able to work at different areas of the classroom, including the standing desks, wobble stools, carpet, floor table or in chairs at desks. They work in cooperative groups and independently, along with small groups at my back table. I not only help the struggling students, but I also challenge the students who have achieved the learning target. My students learn to cooperate and work together in a flexible environment. I enhance my curriculum through technology, art and integrating other subjects within the reading curriculum. I foster a love of learning by creating and delivering lessons that ignite the imagination and encourage my students to be creative.
