We are an inner city, high-poverty, charter high school school but one with an API of 790 and the highest rate of minority students eligible and applying for acceptance into 4-year universities. Many of our students have not had art in middle school due to the programs at their schools stressing fundamentals. One student told me she loved art and is so excited to be in my class because she has not had art since third grade.
