Teaching first grade is such a rewarding experience. Year after year it is still amazing to me to watch a child grow and develop into a reader. This year I have the pleasure of piloting a new language arts program that is aligned with the state common core standards. This program encourages the use of non-fiction literature and putting grade level appropriate text into the hands of these little learners. Teaching my students to learn how to read is my top priority, but providing them with the opportunity to learn how to read with non-fiction literature at just their right level is my goal.

About my class
