This school year I am teaching a fantastic group of third graders from many countries who speak many different languages. Almost all of these students are low-income, English Language Learners. Some of the students are new to the United States and have either never attended a public school, were in a refugee camp, or do not speak any English. Our school serves as a Refugee Magnet School for our district attracting approximately 1,045 students, who speak 30+ languages and are from over 50 different countries. We are a Title I school that provides more than an environment of learning, but a community for the students and their families.

About my class
