I work at a Title 1 High School where over 85% of the students are on free and reduced lunch. My students come from home environments that hold great amounts of uncertainty. Food, water, electricity and employment are daily concerns of a majority of my students. Many have to take care of siblings or their own children and have a broken network of adult support at home. They are being raised by single parents, relatives, guardians, etc. that frequently have two jobs and a limited amount of time to spend with my students. Many of my students face home situations that would stop a normal person yet they still come to school and work as hard as they can. I want to offer them the labs that give them the opportunity to create and explore science the same way that students at well funded schools do.
