I work in a public school which also houses the ILC classrooms for the district. I work in one of those classrooms. Although I have only 12 students in my class, it allows for the small group intensive lessons that the students need to learn and be successful. Differentiation of lessons is a daily occurace, and often changes throughout the day. My students have a love of learning that is unexplainable and they strive to become independent learners. All of my students perform 2-3 years below grade level in reading. We have small group reading (with 2-4 students in a group) where the main focus is on learning sight words, spelling patterns, and reading fluency by using below level texts. My students work daily with 2 teachers in small group for reading, as well as a computer program reviewing words, sounds, and comprehension. I would LOVE to add a listening center into our small reading group rotation :).
