The sensory needs of my students require alternative lighting and seating. Students will focus on building social skills while working on core strength and gross motor skills. The lighting allows them to focus their attention on tasks at hand, rather than the distracting sounds and flickering of fluorescent lighting. I hope that minimizing these distractions will allow students to really hone in on building their ability to identify their feelings, identify calming strategies, and engage in problem solving with peers. We will be working specifically towards their IEP goals in the area of social behavioral skills using curriculum that targets their needs.

About my class
