My students are located in an inner city, depressed school district. Most qualify for free breakfast and lunch subsidy, and come from single parent homes. In a lot of cases, grandparents and foster homes have assumed the responsibility of general care and welfare of the child. The children don't realize that art is an integral part of their lives. They don't understand that art infiltrates every daily activity in which they engage. They don't know how to channel their energy to create a meaningful work of art relating to their personal experiences. The children are very talented and eager to be successful.
