My students in SC are full of energy and love of life, but many struggle daily with basic needs, having school supplies, and focusing on academic subjects. Our school is becoming a STEM school, so we need to support these students with building basic skills so they can better succeed in science, math, engineering, and technology projects. Because of the requirements of a STEM school and the new Common Core State Standards, I am making many changes in the way students work in my room. The focus to one-on-one teaching to meet all students' needs will be my focus. Part of the class change involves a short group time each day with students on the floor. I want to make this part of the classroom as comfortable and inviting as I can, while meeting the fire codes for the district. That is why I am trying to get this Donor's Choose project funded.
