This is a large group of 26 kindergarten students with numbers projected to rise for next fall. They are attending an older Title I school in the middle of town serving a diverse population of students. The children are eager, active learners and appreciate all opportunities and materials that are introduced to the room. Kindergarten students, in particular, spend a great deal of time at the carpet in whole group learning. Space is important to children; they are learning to define it and recognize it. Sitting among peers can prove challenging as they learn to attend, sit on their bottoms, and keep their hands to themselves. This is hard work when everyone is friends and everyone (it seems) has the wiggles!
