Organization of a classroom is integral to student achievement. It creates a space in which students know the routine and where all needed materials can be found. Because I teach in a STEM school, I have many hands-on learning materials that need a good, organized home. This project will help my students learn in an environment with items easily accessible that provide them independence. This will help the students take accountability for our classroom materials and for keeping our classroom organized. By providing organization to our classroom, you will help my students be independent learners who take pride in their learning environment while also learning to maintain their space. The containers that you will provide will help our unorganized and messy bookshelves become a place where manipulatives and hands-on learning materials can be easily found and organized. The shelf size is not standard, and all containers we have tried in the past do not fit. It continues to be difficult to organize. The spray paint will help us differentiate these specific sized containers into the types of materials, to once again become an easy visual that aids in keeping the materials in the correct place. The colors will also match our classroom theme and are calming colors that will help my students focus and give their best.
