I remember the first day of school when 16 brand new, tiny kindergarten students walked through the door. On that day, I knew I was a teacher. I knew I was about to teach my first real lesson, and I knew I had to watch them and guide them for 180 days. What I didn't know on that day was that I would fall in love with each and every one of them. I didn't know I would be bored on Christmas break without them. I didn't know I would find teaching as the most rewarding experience of my life. I have been teaching for 7 years at a high poverty school in South Carolina. Many of my students are unable to afford field trips, coats for cold weather, and even pencils to do their homework with. A meaningful and fun educational experience is what I strive to provide for my students daily because they deserve that.. and more.
