I teach 8th grade Physical Science in a rural middle school in Virginia. It is important to keep students involved and excited about learning, even if science may not be their favorite subject. I feel that connecting art and science is one way to do this. Many students look forward to projects that allow them to express themselves as individuals. Normally, this only occurs in one of the art or English classes. I try to incorporate opportunities for my students to demonstrate their creativity during lab activities throughout the semester. I am requesting funds to start an original lab that I wrote that does this.
