My students light up my life and make every single one of my days bright. They humble me and show me how to appreciate even the littlest moments in life. They teach their fellow, neuro-typically developing peers about patience, calmness, and love, and they never hesitate to share a hug or a smile with anyone that they meet. Specifically speaking, my California-based elementary school classroom has 10 students ranging in age from 5-8, and attend grades Kindergarten through second grade. In addition to being children filled with light, love and a spirit for life, they also have a wide range of developmental disabilities, both physical and cognitive, that impact their ability to participate in a general education class full time. Some of our little lovelies have cerebral palsy, autism, down syndrome, are deaf, blind or have severe speech and language impairments. We love teaching them every day in our SDC classroom, where we're proud to call them our Soaring Eagles!
