My students are simply incredible. My magnet school is one of the most diverse populations you will ever see because we draw from an extremely large county, ranging from metro to rural and everything in between. Students audition into the program at the end of the 8th grade and commit to long hours and a ton of hard work. Many of them take bus rides up to 90 minutes long just to get to school each morning. We work our students hard. Our theory is if we teach them at the college level, they will rise to the college level, and they do. We will take a student with little training and an attitude problem and 4 years later graduate professionally trained young men and women with scholarships to major performing arts college programs across the country. Forgive me if I'm gushing, but my kids are worth being gushed over.
