Most typically developing children love to learn and enjoy going to school. Children with disabilities however, are often intimidated and even fearful of attempting to learn. They have already met with the disappointment of trying to learn new concepts or skills, without success. As the teacher of speech improvement for students struggling with various disabilities and delays in learning and language, I am always trying to make their learning experience a positive and exciting one. The benefits of including tablets into my repertoire of speech tools is three-fold: there are numerous interactive and online apps that are geared to the specific needs of my students, becoming proficient in the use of technology is of paramount importance in the job market of the future, and there is the added bonus of learning new skills in a fun and motivating way. Improving therapy, through the use of these tablets, will afford my students with disabilities the chance to succeed in school and beyond.
