I teach Kindergarten in a Title One school in Kentucky. We have a free and reduced population of almost 90%. I love that I get to be the one who starts their literacy journey. This year I have a large number of ESL students who would benefit greatly from a listening center. Not only could they listen to stories in their native language, but also in English. Keeping them engaged has been a great challenge this year and a listening center would be a way to help them feel included. Many of my students have families who struggle with reading themselves and don't read to them at home. The listening center would help me get even more literacy into their day.
