We are an inner-city school in a low-income district that provides little to no reading resources in the community. What reading they are involved in is within the school year and allotted time. After I read the book, "Ramona and Beezus," my kids wiped the school library out of their Ramona collection, many of which could not read these chapter books. They are currently filtering through books from the early 90's that were left in our classroom from their previous teacher. I want to be able to give them a reason to get excited about reading and a brand new library would be a great start!
