My jr. high students are from a small rural community in the Midwest. Many are unmotivated to increase their vocabulary by reading. They love to play games! Scrabble is a great game that helps students increase vocabulary, spelling, math, and spatial relation skills without even knowing it is happening. Like most school districts our K-8 school has experienced many budget cuts in recent years. We have had to come up with creative ways to supplement curriculum at a low cost. Recently, vocabulary has been our main focus to help our students become independent readers and writers.

About my class
