We are an inner city New York school with limited funds to purchase novels to supplement the units in English language arts, math, science and social studies. When students are able to attach relevant to a newly taught concept, long lasting schema is created thereby establishing material retention. Therefore, as librarian and textbook coordinator my personal goal to acquire classroom sets of age appropriate, stimulating supplemental materials for all the grades k-8. The more the students READ; the more knowledge they acquire. The more they retain; the better prepared for success they are. Thank you for expanding my students academic world through reading.
