Our school serves a high needs population. Over 85% of our students qualify for a free or reduced price lunch, meaning that they are living below the poverty line. Our students are primarily black and Hispanic, many from Spanish speaking households. As a New York City public high school, students from all over the city are encouraged to apply. We are a limited unscreened school, which means there is no test to get in; admission is based on a lottery system giving every student an equal chance to attend. Our school is a Marine-based CTE school. Our students graduate with an acceptance letter to a four-year college and a technical credential in a marine field. Currently our CTE offerings are: Marine Biology and Research, Vessel Operations, Marine Systems Tech, Ocean Engineering, Professional SCUBA diving and Aquaculture. Our students come to us with little knowledge or experience on the water and leave passionate professionals, ready to work to restore the Harbor.
