My 12th grade students come from socioeconomically deprived families, and most receive free lunch at school. They have experienced and overcome more difficulties in their 17 years of life than anyone I know, but they have made it to their 12th grade year, and they plan on graduating high school. Most also have plans to attend college, many have already received their acceptance letters. My goal is to prepare them for the challenges they will face when they head into college level courses. To do this, we simply need to be able to experiment.
