My 6th grade students are in their last year of elementary school. We are a central California school. Many of the students qualify for free or reduced lunch, are learning English as a second language and are low performing. My students are energetic, fun loving, and eager to learn. Recently on a writing assignment my students shared goals that they have for their future. I have students who want to be surgeons, lawyers, scientists, singers, pro athletes and attend Princeton, Harvard, and Stanford. Allowing them to find enjoyment in reading will be a crucial step in achieving their goals.
