These children live in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada and are enrolled through our Public School Home Study program. Their parents have chosen to live a more "Back to Basics" lifestyle; often due more to cost of living, coupled with lack of sustainable employment. To complicate matters, their local schools have closed due to lack of funding. The schools that they can attend are a distance away and many of these children would be on a school bus hours each day just to get to and from school. Their parents would gladly drive if the cost of maintaining a reliable vehicle and the ever increasing cost of gas didn't prohibit that option. In our program students can come to our school for tutoring and classes; or in some cases the teacher will drive to the student's home. Each child is provided CA State curriculum and their teacher assigns and evaluates daily school work.
