Our students are an ethnically diverse group, many who speak English as a second language as well as those native born. They have the aspirations to become doctors, engineers, teachers, lawyers, business people and chefs. Showing them how to expand their vocabularies will empower them to become independent, productive members of society. I submitted a request to order a class set of dictionaries at the beginning of the school year. I recently inquired about the status of that request and was informed that it was denied because the students are expected to utilize the classroom technology to look up words. There aren't enough computers of course. I've made efforts to help prepare our students for their futures through the use of technology by signing up for and incorporating the use of technology into their everyday activities and learning. I hope that you will partner with me as I work to make our students GREAT!
