My students are predominantly African American and Latino students. They are enthusiastic, hard workers that love sports. Sadly, they have very few positive role models in their lives and very few positive outlets in their community. Many come from single parent households in which parents are often times working and do not have the time to spend with their children, unfortunately allowing students to find not so positive activities to get involved in. Our school's sports program has been severely & significantly diminished because of recent budget cuts. Its very difficult to obtain the necessary equipment and extras to maintain a well run sports program.

About my class
