My students come from many different backgrounds, cultures and norms. About 85% of my students are non-native English speakers. They love to learn and are curious about the world. Although language is a barrier in some cases, the ideas that they are able to relate to and accomplishments they achieve are outstanding. Reading is a struggle, but I feel with some of these new books I will be able to open new doors and give them the opportunity to take pride in becoming a stronger reader as well as critical thinkers. If we start our students early then there is no stopping them in the future!
