Books change lives! Just the chance to walk in someone else's troubled shoes or a vision of someplace other than here can open doors never before imagined to paths of success for our students. In a system that provides little consistency and even less supplies, we are relying on the kindness of others to keep our classroom materials current. I teach Language Arts to 140 unique 6th grade students every day. My classroom consists of 80% of students who speak Spanish at home, 15% of students who speak Spanish at school and who understand only limited English, 10% of students who have Special Education needs, and 100% of students who want to feel successful, heard, and validated every day.
