My students are eager learners, ready for a challenge, and bold enough to take risks in their academic learning. However, this is hindered by the physical and social environment around our school. Our school community is in the middle of factories, train tracks, and a freeway. This set up cuts off our students from access to libraries, parks, and even supermarkets. As well, there is a high violence rate, and a large gang presence. Yet, with all these challenges, my students come everyday, we have very good attendance, and put effort into their academic careers.
