My students are a rambunctious bunch of sweethearts. Although they each have their own unique learning styles, a similarity that they seem to share across the board is their love for learning through the use of materials which they can manipulate with their hands. I have found that they are at their highest level of engagement when they have something in front of them. I have been trying my best to work with what I have in the classroom. Unfortunately, sharing the misshapen and damaged manipulatives, and taking turns one by one going up to write on the white board has only worked to keep the kids engaged for so long. They are becoming frustrated at the fact that they are subject to using the same old learning materials day in and day out, especially when they see that other school mates (in the classes of more seasoned teachers) have a variety of learning materials, whereas they have little to none. Please help me add that spice of variety to my students' lives!
