I teach a special day program for students on the autism spectrum in a Title 1 LAUSD school. We are very proud of our little school, however there is very little funding for autism-friendly classrooms. I have invested much of my own money in creating a fun, hands-on, sensory friendly learning environment. I teach my TK, Kinder and First grade students the core curriculum and have spent countless hours adapting materials to motivate and engage all learners. I want all of my students to be successful and to exceed our expectations! On an average day we create art, problem-solve in math, read the newest children's book, learn functional play, get our hands dirty is the sensory bins, dance to music and form friendships.
