My students fit in the "Academic Achievement Gap." They live in the inner-city and their parents have incomes that are below the poverty line. Getting them up to grade-level in history is a challenge! They actually live in the center of a historic location - where riots and social upheaval have been centered in the past. Yet they don't know the entire story of American history, and are unable to understand how they fit into the context of our collective story.

About my class
