My second grade students are fascinating and have so much drive and potential. I teach generally middle to low-income students, meaning that small group, explicit instruction is crucial for a meaningful educational experience. My class' academic strength ranges from students who successfully complete third grade-level work, to students whose work must be accommodated to first grade or kindergarten-level. Small group instruction is also necessary for my class because I can divide my students into groups, based on their ability-levels, and address their specific academic needs.
