I teach 9th grade biology in the North Lawndale community on the west side of Chicago. The students are more than 98% on free or reduced lunch, and have daily struggles that were unimaginable to me as a 14 year old. The students deal with gang violence, drugs, and prospects of failure everyday. In spite of this, it is essential for my students to receive the same quality education as any other high school student.

About my class
