I am a 3rd grade teacher in a high-need, diverse area. My students are unique, creative, kind, and intelligent people. I love working with them. 12 out of 24 students in my class are learning English and 6 are receiving special services for a variety of learning disabilities. I have students from Mongolia, Somalia, Libya, Chile, Mexico, U.S., Samoa, Malaysia, Korea, Ethiopia, Guatemala, Peru, Philippines and Eritrea! We are a mini United Nations:) These children learn in a variety of ways and I try to incorporate as many hands-on and visual learning experiences as possible. Many of the students come from impoverished homes and they do not often get to work with beautiful, new things, let alone create them. I want to change that by allowing the children to create an environment that is alive with their learning and their accomplishments.
