My students are eager learners, who always want to have something to do. They excel in academics and thus are in an accelerated program. Unfortunately due to budget cuts and earmarked funding, they literally have nothing to do during inclement weather days, which gets them very jittery and bored. (As it is regular P.E. equipment is hard to come by these days.) Inclement weather policy in our school calls for two teachers to partner up and for one to look after students in class while the other goes to lunch. Being that both my students and my room partner's students (who are also in the academically accelerated program) are together during these inclement weather days, they can get really rowdy. Having something to do will really help them out…and what better than good old, traditional board games that can challenge their intellect.
