I have 27 students, most first generation immigrants to the U.S., most all are second language learners. The only English they speak is with me and among their friends. Additionally the only formal English they hear is from me. That is limited exposure for any person who is expected to excel in the U.S. especially in Southern California. Our school predominately reflects this as well. We are located in a semi-low income area where students will rely on school for their only language exposure, American simulation exposure, and group or play exposure/experience.
