I am using the pictures books from this list to teach a love for reading. By reading aloud to my students, it will help foster a strong sense of community. The titles that I have selected are from a list of books that create a joyful classroom community. For example, the book "Be a Friend", the theme is embracing differences. Reading aloud to students opens windows to other worlds. I can also showcase a proficient reader's strategy and expand the vocabulary of my students by modeling reading. As a literacy specialist, I know that modeling and sharing high quality text with students is key to their success as readers. With having multiple copies of the books, the students will be able to reread the books during independent time.
