My students are independent readers. I would like to improve their comprehension skills and enjoy reading at the same time! Having copies of The Tale of Despereaux, Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing, and The Chocolate Touch for small group literature circles will get my students reading and working cooperatively as they enjoy great literature by wonderful authors! My students will work in literature circles during our independent work time. They will take turns completing jobs such as being a Discussion Director/mini teacher, Summarizer, Artist, Connector, Word Wizard, and Literary Luminary. These jobs review important reading skills and strategies to become stronger readers. They will improve their vocabulary, ability to summarize text,make connections to real life and other literature, and lead a group to name a few. These books will keep my students on the right path in reading and understanding text!
