Learn by doing. My goal is to get these children outside and introduce them to an incredibly beautiful and amazing environment. Most students only see a glimpse of the world through TV, internet, windows or from a sports field. They need time to walk and "smell the roses". The students use horticulture tools (including power tools), grow and maintain plants, photography, GPS systems, computers, electronic forms and I am now having the students collect ornithological data from our campus to publish on the Cornell University eBird database! We are now a Hotspot. Through your generosity and support I introduce the students to the local native habitat, studying the plants and animals. We have been acknowledged by the North American Bird Phenology program for our work helping transcribe almost 100 years of ornithological records. My hope is that through your support we can become a model for "learning by doing!
