My students and their families are from low socioeconomic backgrounds. Even though the parents are suffering from the setbacks of today's economy, they gladly collected money to donate a new pencil sharpener at the beginning of the school year. However after a few months, the sharpener couldn't keep up with the demand and slowly deteriorated and eventually died.
