My 5th grade students attend a Title 1 school where funding for arts education has been reduced. Our students do not have access to highly knowledgeable music educators or musical instruments. Last year a music teacher came to our school two days a week and we had an orchestra teacher for one day a week. We no longer have an orchestra teacher and the choral music program has been reduced to one day a week. Few of my students participate in extra-curricula activities such as dance, art or music lessons, but they do possess the desire and are excited when they participate in these activities.
