I am supporting students in grades TK-6 who are working to develop or improve their literacy skills. These children are always curious and eager to learn. The majority of students at my school are second language learners. This becomes another barrier to overcome. Supporting students in gaining access to the curriculum is highly challenging because even within a small group setting students' needs vary. Like all children they are fascinated by books and the adventures reading can provide. Unfortunately, just like many other schools in our state, our school struggles with meeting the needs of our students. This challenge has been exacerbated by the pandemic. It's vital to get our kids back on track.
