My Deaf and Hard of Hearing students by definition demonstrate significant delays in speech, language, communication, cognitive readiness, literacy and social behavioral skills.Covid, school closures and online teaching and for some starting school late, has put students even more behind. These delays impact their ability to understand and access the general education curriculum. Through hands on , live objects, pictures, multiple and varied approaches and materials we build a foundation of language, speech, communication and literacy skills. To build a foundation of language and readiness skills, we need a whole host of materials to give students the experience, drill practice to learn readiness skills, generalize and apply them to their academic day. The resources requested cover all domains and will help promote both the development of speech language, communication readiness and social behavioral skills so they can transition to kindergarten next fall and be ready to face the kindergarten curriculum and access it for success. We need to build a strong foundation of readiness, literacy skills and social behavioral skills to lay the foundation for their overall academic success.
