Hello my name is Cynthia Carrig. I am a teacher at Atlantic High School in Port Orange. The students I teach have varying exceptionalities including Autism, Cerebral Palsy, cognitive challenges, physical limitations, and emotional or behavioral disorders. The focus of our education program is to give these students as many opportunities as possible to have real-life experiences to better enable them to become an integral part of our community. With the help of Votran, we make many Community Based Instruction (CBI) trips to local retail businesses, restaurants, and establishments that can provide my students with the opportunities to shop for items, correctly make purchases, select items from a menu, and learn new skills and appropriate behaviors for public settings.
