The supplies I have requested will provide the stimulation necessary to prepare my students to have the stamina to complete independent work during inquiry studio. These materials will not directly teach my students new skills, but they will help them to focus and to achieve better results in all content areas. For example, while my students are reading, some of them might have difficulties to focus if they are sitting on a regular chair. Providing them with choices where they can sit or lay down, might help them to read for a sustained amount of time. Using some cushions on the rug, while I am teaching a lesson, will definitely help them to be more engaged and to listen more carefully to my directions. Finally, my students will be able to choose the best space in the classroom to sit and focus in order to learn or demonstrate a specific skill.
The donations for this project will improve my classroom learning and engagement by reducing the number of behavioral issues because I will be able to provide the appropriate stimulation that my students need in order to focus and to have more stamina during their independent work.
With less behavioral issues, we can increase our learning and time on task. I'm looking forward to seeing my students happier and ready to learn how to use their flexible seating.
