I am a 6th grade social studies teacher in a rural Title 1 community located near a military base where students often struggle to have the money to purchase basic school supplies. Eighty-six percent of our students receive free or reduced-lunch and many have a parent who actively serves in the military. Some have traveled the world, while others have never left this community. Additionally, I teach special education students who struggle academically and some who have various behavioral issues. My students are typical 6th graders, full of energy and enthusiasm. Sometimes that energy causes students to lose focus and concentration. In a sense, they get a major case of the wiggles, and typical chairs just don't help.
