Our K-6th elementary school is located on the Northwest Side of Chicago. Most of our students are Hispanic and come from hard working, low income families. We (teachers at my school) believe in a personalized learning approach to teaching -- that is we believe in allowing our students to develop emotionally, socially and cognitively at their appropriate paces. Personalized learning provides our students with opportunities to foster independent thinking skills and behaviors as well as opportunities for real world projects, collaboration and creating relationships with teachers and staff through mentoring. Our fifth grade students are an energetic, collaborative bunch! They enjoy learning new dances, sharing funny experiences and helping each other learn. Together we create a productive, fun learning space that allows each of us to grow and develop.
